Always a great experience to take a recruit to Starfire and to have the Seattle Reign practicing. Besides Hope Solo, seeing Megain Rapinoe and Amy Rodriguez is always exciting for the recruits.
Besides the winning and academic success, the best trait of our program is the players have fun and all get along. We have a big emphasis on team chemistry every year and it pays off. This is a just for fun photo our group from last year took after their last regular season game before playoffs.
Another view from the waterfront in downtown Des Moines (a town of 25,000 people that still has a small town type of feel even though Seattle is 15 minutes away).
Indoor fields at Starfire. The turf is less than a year old, as is the same with most of the facility. The two older turf fields are scheduled to be replaced this summer.
Skiing available 45 minutes from campus in the mountains.
Pacific Ocean is just an hour and a half from campus.
Starfire Sports Complex. Considered the top facility in the west coast, there is seven Field Turf fields, four grass fields and two indoor Field Turf fields. Also, a training/PT center, restaurant, coffee shop and soccer store. This is where the Seattle Sounders and Seattle Reign train. This complex is located about 5 minutes from campus and is often used by our team for practice and games. In the offseason, almost all our girls play in the adult leagues here that are filled with current/former college and professional players.
This is taken 15 minutes from campus in downtown Seattle.
Here is the view a mile from campus (the mountains and water are easily visible everywhere on campus as well).
This part of the country has so much to offer. I am very fortunate to be able to recruit to such a beautiful area. Four great recruiting visits in the past week. Hopefully more to come.
