Open House.
For any player who might be interested in coming to see what Southern Virginia is about, the university is hosting an Open House on Nov. 17.
This will be a chance to meet current students, interact with professors and staff, talk to admissions counselors, and have the opportunity to meet with coaches.
As a DIII we cannot have tryouts during the open house, but often current players have pick-up games in the afternoon of the open house, and recruits are allowed to participate.
If you are interested in attending, check out the admissions section of the SVU website, and RSVP to attend. We hope to see you then.
Taking on a new challenge.
My name is Matt Grawrock, and as of yesterday I am the new Director of Soccer at Southern Virginia University. I have been in charge of the women's team here at Southern Virginia for six years, and now add the men's program to my responsibilities. I am excited for this challenge, and I know that I will be pushed to succeed for both programs.
I'm inheriting a great group of men, as they recently wrapped up there season with a win to get to 10-wins for the first time in many years. I know that this will be hard to duplicate next year, as we'll have a tremendously daunting schedule. Our new conference, the Capital Athletic Conference, will have four schools that are currently in or close to the top-30 in NCAA DIII. We will face some big obstacles, but I'm confident that the talent we have will make us competitive, and give us an opportunity for success. I hope everybody reading and following this blog will enjoy it, and enjoy the success we'll soon have. Thank you for your support and interest. Go Knights!!!
