Bacone College names head volleyball, women’s soccer coaches

April 7, 2016 – Bacone College Athletic Director Alan Foster announced today Bacone’s new head volleyball and women’s soccer coaches.
“I am extremely excited to welcome Marissa Rangel and Rachael Cooper to the staff of the Bacone Athletic Department,” Foster said. “After an extensive national search that took longer than I would have liked, I believe we have found two outstanding coaches.”
Marissa Rangel, coming from Texas Wesleyan University, will take over the volleyball program. Rangel has been an assistant volleyball coach at TWU since 2013. She holds a doctorate in education, and was named Red River first team and second team All-Conference several times during her college career.
“Marissa brings a wealth of knowledge about the Sooner Athletic Conference. Playing and coaching at fellow conference member Texas Wesleyan University gives her a perspective of where we are and what we need to do to get to where we want to go with our volleyball program,” Foster said. “Her recruiting ties to both Texas and California should be a big plus for our program.”
Rachael Cooper, coming from Centerton, Ark. where she manages and coaches at the Sporting Arkansas Soccer Club, is Bacone’s new women’s soccer coach.
She holds a master’s of science in sports coaching, and a bachelor’s of science in civil engineering, and played for the All Armed Forces National Team in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012.
“Rachael was a candidate who just blew us away in the interview process,” Foster said. “Her knowledge of soccer and her plan for recruiting were what we were looking for. Rachael’s education and worldly experience are qualities we can not always find in our hiring process.
A graduate of the Air Force Academy and her service to our country are examples we like to see for our student athletes.”
