SOFTBALL INKS SIX ON FIRST DAY OF SIGNING PERIOD

The Frank Phillips College Softball team is proud to announce its first signees for the 2014-15 recruiting class. The signees are Jaelene Solano (OF, Pico Rivera, CA) Erika Bradley (MI, Farmington, NM) Sabrina Estrada (CI, Live Oak, TX) Abbegail Alvarez (OF, Lubbock, TX) Cheyenne Housh (P/OF, Canyon, TX) and Kitana Roybal (OF, Amarillo, TX)

Jaelene Solano comes to FPC from Pico Rivera, CA and La Serna High School. During her high school career Jaelene has been involved with basketball, track and field, and softball. She has been the MVP of her track and field team twice and has been an athletic scholar and honor roll student. She has been very active in her community over the years as well. Jaelene could make an immediate impact on the team both offensively and defensively while competing for one of the three outfield positions.

Erika Bradley from Farmington High School in Farmington, New Mexico will come and compete for time at both second base and short stop next year. Erika has been named as an honorable mention softball player. She plans on majoring in Criminal Justice while at FPC.

Sabrina Estrada come to FPC from Live Oak, TX and Judson High School. Sabrina could make an immediate impact on the team offensively as she has shown power ability in the games that Coach Grider has been able to watch her play, consistently hitting extra base hits in those games. Defensively she will compete at both corner infield positions and will even get some opportunity in the pitcher's circle.

Abbegail Alvarez comes to FPC from Lubbock, TX and Coronado High School. She comes from a program with a winning tradition having won their district for 18 consecutive seasons. She was named 2nd Team All District as a utility player in 2012 and as an outfielder in 2013. She also has shown power ability and will compete for playing time in the outfield.

Cheyenne Housh from Canyon, TX and Canyon High School will come to FPC to compete for time in the pitcher's circle. Last season she was named a 2nd Team all District Pitcher. Offensively Cheyenne is a contact hitter who can spray the ball to all fields.

Kitana Roybal from Amarillo, TX and Amarillo High School will come to FPC to compete for time in the outfield. Kitana will add to our team speed and offensively is a contact hitter.

Frank Phillips has a good relationship with families in the area. Many of whom "adopt" our students to make their experience better while away from home. This weekend one such family hosted a team dinner. Frank Phillips Softball would like to thank the Dompe's.
