Senior Romeo Grey
North Adams, MA- Matt Duffy scored with 1:56 left in the first overtime in leading the MCLA Trailblazers to a thrilling 1-0 win over the visiting Becker College Hawks at Shewcraft Field. The match was the season opener for both teams as MCLA is now 1-0 while Becker drops to 0-1.
Duffy converted a pass from Romeo Grey for the golden goal to end the scoreless drought and send the home crowd happy. MCLA had a great chance to win it in regulation, but Grey's shot hit the post and the game went into overtime.
MCLA held a slim 12-11 shot advantage over the Hawks and a 5-4 mark in corners, however neither team could get the ball into the back of the net.
MCLA keeper Kamron Anderson earned the shutout victory collecting three saves for the Trailblazers to snag the win.
Becker's Arnold Schroder was almost as effective stopping five shots for the Hawks.
MCLA will travel to Western New England on Sunday afternoon while Becker will be at Nichols on Labor Day.

North Adams, MA- The MCLA Men's Soccer program has announced their three captains as they prepare for the upcoming 2017 season. Stepping into the leadership role as announced by head coach Adam Hildabrand are seniors Joe Tavella and Oscar Castro, along with junior Khalil Kareh.
Castro and Kareh appeared in all 17 games last season for Hildabrand. Castro played on the attack and tallied a goal and an assist in his appearances. Kareh played in the midfield notching one assist on the season, but added some size and toughness for the Trailblazers.
Tavella helped anchor the defense and appeared in 8 games. He missed some time due to injury in 2016, but is poised to be a stalwart and leader of the back line as a senior.
The Trailblazers have started preparations for the season with practices underway. Following a pair of scrimmages, MCLA will host Becker College on Friday, September 1st at 6pm in the season opener.
